How does the dance milieu approach copyright issues?
How does copyright law influence the creation, performance, reproduction and distribution of choreographic works?
To answer these wide-ranging questions, the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault is inviting dance practitioners and legal experts to participate in a focus day on copyright and dance heritage, on October 2nd.
This event, which we have been preparing for close to a year, will examine the authorship of choreographic works from both artistic and legal perspectives, and will explore the principles of copyright with regard to the various ways in which a work may be used.
Legal experts Georges Azzaria, Sophie Préfontaine and Normand Tamaro—members of the focus day committee, along with Marc Boivin and Lise Gagnon of the FJPP—and artists Caroline Gravel, Manon Oligny and Isabelle Van Grimde have confirmed their participation in the round table discussions.
The day will conclude with the launch of Testament artistique, a guide written by Sophie Préfontaine for dance artists.
