Danser Joe dans la ville at Notre-Dame-des-Prairies

Date
October 4, 2016

A workshop for amateur dancers and non-dancers

Would you like to take part in a unique dance performance?

Would you like to discover a major work in the repertoire of one of Quebec’s most famous contemporary dance choreographers?

Come and explore Joe, the flagship work of Jean-Pierre Perreault.

Inspired by the unforgettable workshop Vivre Joe, held at Agora de la danse by Ginelle Chagnon and Sophie Breton, Danser Joe dans la ville is an invitation to experience Joe across the city, in five boroughs of Montreal, over the course of two 4-hour workshops.

In the company of Catherine Tardif and Daniel Villeneuve, two fabulous dance artists who have performed Joe on stage, participants will don the iconic Joe costume—boots, a felt hat and an oversize raincoat—and will learn a few excerpts from the work. By offering this experience to participants, Danser Joe dans la ville helps to keep the memory of the choreography alive in the body of each dancer, and in our shared memory.

At the end of the workshop, participants will perform the excerpts they have learned before an audience. The performance will be followed by a free screening of the film Joe, directed by Bernard Picard (1994), compliments of Radio-Canada.

Danser Joe is a collaboration between the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault and the city of Notre-Dame-des-Prairies.
